A headteacher attacked his deputy from behind with a wrench at school, in what a judge described as an ambush driven by “overwhelming sexual jealousy.”
Anthony John Felton, 54, of Gorseinon, struck Richard Pyke, 51, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Comprehensive School in Neath Port Talbot on 5 March. Mr Pyke was taken to hospital with head injuries.
The prosecution said Felton believed Mr Pyke had slept with another teacher with whom he had recently been in a relationship.
The defence said Felton had recently suffered due to the death of his mother and a cancer diagnosis, but the judge argued his actions were due to jealousy.
Felton was sentenced to two years and four months in prison and given an indefinite restraining order on Friday, 25 April.
